Ethics & Boundaries

Our Responsibility

Sorin operates in deeply personal and emotionally sensitive contexts.

This work involves memory, identity, illness, and legacy. Not everything that is technically possible is appropriate, and not every request should proceed.

This page outlines the ethical principles and boundaries that guide our work, and the limits we place on ourselves in order to act responsibly.

Human-Led, Technology-Supported

Sorin uses AI to support accuracy and preservation.
Decisions about content, timing, and participation are made by people.
Technology does not replace judgement.

Consent and Agency

Participation must be voluntary and informed.
The individual whose story is being created retains full agency. Sorin does not proceed without clear consent, and consent may be withdrawn prior to release.
Requests may be declined where consent or intent is unclear.

Timing Matters

Interest does not always mean readiness.
Sorin may recommend waiting or not proceeding if timing does not appear appropriate. Choosing not to continue is a valid outcome.

Clear Boundaries

Sorin will not:

create fully automated or unsupervised content
impersonate or misrepresent individuals
replace counselling, therapy, or medical care
proceed where readiness or consent is uncertain

These boundaries are intentional.

Limited Participation

Sorin is currently offering a limited pilot.

Participation is reviewed carefully and not all requests can be accommodated. This limitation is a safeguard, not a reflection of demand.
